I am very excited as we venture in to this book together. I will be posting my thoughts on the weekly readings and invite you to post your comments and thoughts.
For your first post, tell me why you are doing this. Why do you want to spend your time reading a book when there are a million other things in your life going on right now? Be as simple or complex as you wish.
I know that God is going to reveal new insights to all of us as we go through this book together. Stay tuned for the first reading assignment....

I want to be sensitive to your plight as a worship director. Also I want to hone my skills to become more effective with my worship and inspire others to take a longer / deeper look how they can establish a stronger personal relationship with the Father.
For one thing, we should all be united in leading others in worship. Reading this book hopefully will make us stronger as a choir and more unified in Christ. We'll all be "on the same page" (pardon the pun). I think all of us know why we're in choir but maybe there are those who don't know how to "say" it or put it into words. I expect we'll all learn something from this book and then be able to express why we serve the Lord in this capacity. Thank you, Derek, for being sensitive to the Holy Spirit.
Well, I've just finished the first two chapters of the book. WOW! I had no idea that worship leaders had so much to contend with. Derek, you sure handle everything without letting it show.
As the writer states, I understand too that worship matters. It matters to God because He alone is worthy. And, I believe too, that we were created for worship. I hope that everyone in choir understands the priviledge to lead others.
We often don't realize the impact we have on the worship experience of those in the congregation. They're watching us. Waiting on us to lead them; to usher them into the Throneroom of God Almighty. I never understood or recognized the importance until one day someone said "I love to watch Eddie Mann worship." That really struck a chord with me. (pardon the pun) Then, just a few weeks ago, there was a couple who was moving out of the area and was leaving CrossWay. While talking with her about this she said, "I have really enjoyed watching you sing". Have you ever thought that someone was watching you sing? Not just listening, but watching!
I don't know about you but, here's where my mind and heart are when worshiping: I picture God on His throne in this large auditorium watching and listening to us praise Him and sing to Him. I picture a great big smile across His face as I lift my hands and voice to Him in adoration and gratitude.
What's in your heart and mind when you worship?
I encourage you to answer the questions on page 28 in the book.
The reason I wanted to do this is first and most importantly that I want to serve the Lord. I think that one of the best ways to do that is by leading others to see how excited you are about Him. I don't think we can ever learn enough about how to minister to others.
Sometimes as I watch from up on the risers I see people who are clearly going through something in their daily lives. It is us that they are looking to as they sing. Like children, they are soaking it all in. Our commitment can seen as we stand up there. If we are one or divided. They can tell if we are all committed or just interested. I want them to see my commitment. I want them to see my joy in the Lord. I want them to rejoice in the Joy that only He can bring. I think that doing this as a worship team we are bonding together to attain the same goal. Glory to God!
Love you all!
Your sister in Christ,
Lorelei
